Tools for scientists

Color Health provides genetic testing services to patients who want to learn more about their hereditary risk factors for heart disease, cancer, and other illnesses. As you can imagine, these genetic testing results are put through a very rigorous review process to make sure patients and providers are getting accurate information.

Part of that process is review by a medical geneticist, our primary user for the results review tool that we will be redesigning. To give a quick overview of the tool, the medical geneticist receives a large batch of results to review, and looks through them in detail before qualifying them to be passed onto patients, or rejecting them. Before the redesign, the medical geneticist had to use a mix of in-product and Excel to review results--which made for an inefficient and fragmented user experience.

This project aimed to give Color medical geneticists a seamless in-product experience, and did just that.

During this effort, we tackled the main pain points Color scientists were facing with the platform, delivered production-ready designs, helped expand the Color design system, and laid the groundwork for a reporting system that could be reconfigured for other user types in the future.
